Compostable films are a genuine option for treat packaging and they come with genuine trade-offs, so here they are before you order. Barrier performance is lower than a conventional laminate, which means a shorter shelf life, and on a fatty product that gap matters more than it does on a dry one.

Certified compostable also means industrially compostable unless the certificate says otherwise. That is not the same as home compostable, and it is not the same as biodegradable, which on its own is a word rather than a standard. If your customers do not have access to industrial composting, the bag goes to landfill like any other.
